In the field of investments, the term “Digital real estate” is no longer foreign to investors. Some buy, some build and others observe from afar. So what exactly is digital real estate? How does this threaten traditional real estate investments? And how can you make money from it?

What’s a Digital Real Estate?

A digital asset can be expressed in several ways. Like a website that generates revenue from traffic, a YouTube channel that earns views or an eCommerce store that sells products online.

Our preferred option is online stores, because it has the most potential. Online stores offer several options, which we can compare to the physical world. One option is to open a store in a location that creates traffic naturally, such as a mall or shopping center and thus you will not have to worry about marketing the store… or at least, not as much!

A second option is to set up a store in a place with less traffic but marketing your store will be a much bigger investment for you. The same applies to online stores, where websites like eBay and Amazon suggest that you upload your products to your store on their website and they, on the other hand, take care of the marketing and take care of the customers who will enter your store, just like in a mall.

However, it’s also possible to set up your own website, take care of your marketing and associated risks. However, it’s worth noting that if your profits can’t cover marketing expenses, you’re in trouble.

Selling in the Mall vs a Standalone Store: What’s Better?

eBay and Amazon have a great platform for their sellers and when you consider their nearly 3B monthly users we’re talking about 100M potential customers per day – all without having to invest in a hefty marketing budget!

From the field of online stores, this sounds like the best investment because as investors, we will always prefer less risk, less work and more automation. It simply leaves us with more time that we can use for other important things.

Many sites offer digital courses to help you learn how to open a store, upload products and manage your store. Some offer in-person support for a fee, which can be expensive down the line, while a company named DIGI offers the best deal we’ve found.
